‘Harry Potter’ to make Australian cinema history

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 posterAlready one of the most popular film franchises of all time, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the final chapter in the fantasy saga, is set to make Australian cinema history by debuting on on the widest number of screens of all time, announced Roadshow today.

This epic finale will open on 748 screens around the country, which is 138 more than Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

Joel Pearlman, Roadshow Films Managing Director adds, “The final instalment of the much loved Harry Potter series is making cinematic history by releasing on 748 screens. This is incredibly indicative of the overwhelming demand from audiences and cinemas alike for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is the first Harry Potter film to be released in both 3D and 2D and select IMAX® theatres from 12.00am on 13th July 2011 – please refer to cinema directories for early opening hours for participating cinemas.

Viewers will no doubt be aware that this is the only film being released in Australian cinemas this week, with no other film crazy enough to go head-to-head with the Potter juggernaut.
