‘The Hunter’ to screen at TIFF, Madman releases new teaser trailer

The Hunter

Madman has announced that The Hunter, from director Daniel Nettheim, will have its world premiere at the prestigious ‘Special Presentation’ section of the Toronto International Film Festival 2011. They have also released a new teaser trailer to go with the announcement.

The Hunter is based on a novel by Julia Leigh, writer and director of the recent Sleeping Beauty, and stars Willem Dafoe (Spider-man, The English Patient, Platoon), Frances O’Connor (BlessedAI: Artificial Intelligence, Mansfield Park) and Sam Neill (The DishJurassic Park, The Piano).

Directed Daniel Nettheim commented “I am thrilled to be presenting The Hunter to Toronto audiences, a story and landscape that is distinctly Australian and a film that I am very proud of”.

The film, following the story of a mercenary sent from Europe to the Tasmanian wilderness, comes from the producers of Animal Kingdom, one of the most locally awarded films in Australian history. Madman Managing Director added Recent Australian films distributed by Madman such as Animal Kingdom and Snowtown also enjoyed a significant major film festival springboard that has led to remarkable local success and we anticipate the same for The Hunter.”
