iTunes Trailers and /Film have released the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s biographical film of J. Edgar Hoover. Simply titled J. Edgar, it will star Leonardo Dicaprio as the titular “most powerful man in the world”.
Very little has been released from this film to date, shy of the publicity photo we’ve replicated above, and even the Apple page is fairly thin on the synopsis details. However, from the trailer we can discern that it will cover both the earlier and later stages of Hoover’s career, from the 1930s Dillinger case (last portrayed in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies), the centralised fingerprint database around the same time, and through to his dealings with US President John. F. Kennedy in the 1960s.
J. Edgar will be released in Australia on 19 January 2012 from Roadshow. It is released the 9 November 2011 in the US.
