Valentine’s Day 2013 is A Good Day to Die Hard

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD (AKA DIE HARD 5).

That headline either needs a fair bit of explanatory back-peddling or speaks for itself. Fox has announced, you guessed it, that a fifth Die Hard film, A Good Day to Die Hard, is set to take to the world stage on 14 February 2013. Is McClane getting to old for this shit, or is 56 the new 30?

In a press release, Fox had this to say:

Since the first Die Hard in 1988, John McClane has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

The film will be written by Skip Woods of…erm…The A-Team fame, and…ack!…X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and is to be directed by…oh dear lord…John Moore, who birthed Max Payne into the world. Despite this, we remain cautiously optimistic.

The adventures of John McClane were last seen in 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, also known as Die Hard 4.0.

With Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s star on the meteoric rise, appearing this month in The Thing and slated to be seen in Timur Bekmambetov it appears that she doubts she will be back for the next installment as McClane’s daughter. As such, the new element of the estranged son has been introduced, potentially as an out for the studios if the film is successful and Willis really is getting too old for this shit.

The film is said to begin shooting in January 2012, with principal photography in Russia.

All we have to add is this:
