The Avengers "Assemble" poster (2012)If you have been following The Avengers coverage up until this point, you will be forgiven for thinking the majority of the movie will be Thor and Captain America standing on a rubble-strewn street, intercut by quips from Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark. Now, the ever-awesome Spiderman.ru has posted some concept art of the Quinjet from the forthcoming The Avengers.

In case you don’t know what a Quinjet is, aside from being a flying type things, the Marvel Comics Database has you covered: Used primarily by the Avengers for transportation, the quinjet is first designed by the Wakanda Design Group, headed by Black Panther, T’Challa. Each one is equipped with VTOL capability and turbojet engines. A quinjet can reach Mach 2.1. Two highly specialized ultra-large Quinjets were used to transport various superheros through space in the Infinity Crusade mini-series.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel’s The Avengers is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series The Avengers, first published in 1963.

The Avengers is released in Australia on 25 April 2012 from Disney. It will be released in the US a week later on 4 May 2012.
