Kath and Kim posterAustralia’s favourite television bogans are back, but this time only the big screen can contain them. Roadshow announced that the new film, Kath & Kimderella, will hit cinemas around the country on 6 September this year.

Fountain Lakes’ foxiest ladies turn more than just heads when they go on an OS trip and end up being the centre of their very own fairytale.

“I have been up to pussies bow working out what to wear for the Oscars next year, do I go ritzy or tizzy, indie,….” bemoaned Kath.

“I was made for the wide screen and like Avatar I will be working blue,” adds Kim.

Filmed in Positano, Italy  and of course, Melbourne, Australia, the comedy sees the original Kath & Kim cast of Jane Turner, Gina Riley, Glenn Robbins, Peter Rowsthorn and Magda Szubanski return. Additional cast & guest stars will be announced closer to release.

The original series ran from 2002 to 2004 on the ABC in Australia, before making the move to Channel 7 in 2007, following the Da Kath and Kim Code telemovie. A short-lived remake screened in the US in 2008-2009, starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair.

Kath & Kimderella, written by Jane Turner and Gina Riley, directed by Ted Emery and produced by Rick McKenna, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, will be released nationally by Roadshow Films on September 6.
