Connect 5 Short Film Competition - Popcorn Optus YesAustralian short film competitions have become known all over the world, with Tropfest practically a household name. Now Aussie actor Samuel Johnson has teamed up with telco giant Optus to launch a brand new short film competition, Connect5. Regional finalists can win up to US$30,000 and the chance to have their film seen by an adoring worldwide audience.

Connect5 is a national, 5-minute video competition that gives creative Australians the chance to get their content seen by millions. It offers a platform for everybody, from industry professionals to the everyday mobile user, to capture what this year’s theme, ‘Connecting Lives’, means to them and spread a powerful message through video.

All filmmakers need to do is shoot, upload and submit a 5-minute film that focuses on the theme of ‘Connecting Lives’ by heading to the optus.com.au/connect5 site. Two Australian winners will win A$5,000 and be automatically entered in the regional finals to be held in Bangkok. The winner of those regional finals will take home US$30,000 and are promised to receive exposure across the region.

Johnson stars in the promotional video for the competition, which is running from now until 30 September 2016. So get your entries in if you think you’ve got what it takes.
