Adelaide Film Festival returns for 2017 and 2018, adds Hybrid World ADL

Adelaide Film Festival 2017

Exciting news South Australia film fans: ADL Film Fest will be presented in full for 2017 and 2018. There had previously been a 24 month wait between festivals. It will run this year from 5-15 October this year.

The festival confirmed that the 2018 event will be a full festival, including a funding round of $1m for the ADL Film Fest Fund, will run again in October 2018. The fund has previously kickstarted films like 52 Tuesdays, Girl Asleep, Samson & Delilah, Snowtown, Mrs Carey’s Concert and Look Both Ways. The previous ADL Film Festival took place in 2015.

The organisers have also announced a brand new event, Hybrid World Adelaide. Hybrid World Adelaide will run alongside the ADL Film Fest in October, presenting a tech related public and industry events for the digitally savvy through to the curious onlooker.

This follows news that the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival was closing up shop and wouldn’t be running in 2017. The return of the ADL Film Fest at least fills in one of the gaps on the Australian festival calendar this year.
