Cannes Film Festival Announces 2017 Lineup

Cannes International Film Festival 2017

The 70th Cannes International Film Festival has adopted the motto of “go big or go home” with a massive line-up of films for their platinum anniversary. It runs from 17-28 May this year, where it will also host special screenings of two TV series as part of an evolving program.

New films from Francois Ozon, Yorgos Lanthimos, Hang Sang-Soo, Todd Haynes, Michael Haneke, Sofia Coppola, Fatih Akin, Noah Baumbach and Bong Joon-ho fill the competition section of the festival, with highly anticipated films THE BEGUILED and OKJA headlining.

Michael Haneke returns to Cannes with HAPPY END playing in competition. Haneke has won the Palme d’Or twice and been nominated 4 times. Those odds are pretty good, but the competition is stiff.

The television series that will debut are, of course, David Lynch’s TWIN PEAKS and Jane Campion’s TOP OF THE LAKE: CHINA GIRL.
