‘Supergirl’ promo for ‘Wonder Woman’ is a Multiversal dream

Supergirl/Wonder Woman

While DC Entertainment have drawn a line between their television universe and the DC Extended Universe, the well established existence of a Multiverse has always left the crossover open as a possibility. A new promo for the WONDER WOMAN film, featuring the cast of CW’s Supergirl, brings us one step closer. Or at the very least, has a little fun with the concept.

To the tune of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, Terri Hatcher, and 1970s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter strut into a bar showcasing some pretty serious footwear. In the guise of Kara Danvers, our hero Supergirl gives a pretty serious indication that she has encountered the DC Extended Universe’s Wonder Woman at some stage in her travels. Check it out in the player below.

While this is by no means confirmation on anyone’s part that the universes are connected, it’s certainly fun to think of it that way. After all, The Flash has spent two season dipping in and out of the Multiverse, including multiple visits between Supergirl’s Earth-38 and Barry Allen’s Earth-1. In addition to the the four-way crossover with Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow last year, we also saw Supergirl travel to Barry’s dimension for a musical crossover. At the very least, someone is having fun with the DC Extended Universe, and it may as well be DC themselves.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, WONDER WOMAN is the fourth film in DC Extended Universe, a series that began with Man of Steel, and continued with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. It hits Australian cinemas on 1 June 2017 from Roadshow Films.
