Star Wars: Episode IX gets a new writer

Jack Thorne, writer of the upcoming Stephen Chbosky’s film Wonder, has signed on to give STAR WARS: EPISODE IX a rewrite says The Hollywood Reporter. Derek Connolly and director Colin Trevorrow are currently listed as the film’s screenwriters.

“Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly,” says the source. “have been working on the script, but sources say a fresh set of eyes was needed. It is unclear how extensive the rewrites will be.”

This news follows the recent departure of Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the Untitled Han Solo film. In that instance, they were swiftly replaced with Ron Howard.

Thorne’s other credits including television’s National Treasure and the upcoming Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX is scheduled to start production in January 2018 for a 24 May 2019 release from Disney. Before that, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit cinemas in December this year.
