Behind the Panels has a new home!

Australia’s leading comic book podcast, Behind the Panels, has a brand new home at BehindThePanels.net. Those lamenting the loss of The Reel Bits need lament no more: all the latest comics and movie news, reviews and views can be found on Behind the Panels.

Behind the Panels will continue its successful run of almost 50 shows to date in 2013, returning to a weekly format in March. Hosted by Richard Gray and David McVay, creators of The Reel Bits and Geek Actually, it has been described as “Oprah’s Book Club for geeks”. Each show, David and Richard dissect a classic, new or just plain obscure graphic novel or comic book series in a spoilers and all discussion. Coupled with interviews with comic book creators, the latest news and the fan-favourite Vintage Clip of the Week, if you aren’t already reading comics, you will be by the end of this show.

We once again joined ABC Radio Overnights, at the always fun hour of 4am to 5am back on 17 November 2012. Richard Gray joins Rod Quinn to discuss scary films, particularly those films that chill us to the bone. Produced by Dan Glover.

Last week, [Overnights] had a text message from Paperchucker, listening on the Gold Coast. He said his daughter was after scary movies, but nothing she had seen was actually frightening her. We thought we should get Paperchucker and his daughter some good suggestions, so we called in our film man, Richard Gray and took calls on the films that truly terrified you.

From the earliest days of cinema through to more modern macabre, we journey through people’s favourite scares and some of our own.

Once again we need to thank Rod and Dan for the invite on the show, it’s always a blast. We’ve been appearing on ABC Overnights regularly, and you can find most of our previous appearances here. We were lucky enough to be invited to once again take up a guest spot on the ABC Radio Overnights, at the always fun hour of 4am to 5am back on 25 August 2012. Richard Gray joins Rod Quinn to discuss Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather for its 40th anniversary, along with other classic gangster films. Produced by Dan Glover.

The show takes the opportunity to revisit the classic trilogy, the evolution of gangster films through the Production Code, along with modern classics of Martin Scorsese from Mean Streets to Goodfellas, TV’s The Sopranos and Sergio Leone’s sprawling crime-saga Once Upon a Time in America.

Once again we need to thank Rod and Dan for the invite on the show, it’s always a blast. We previously appeared on ABC Overnights in July for They Keeping Making the Same Movie!, again also in May where we discussed Mad, Bad Rulers in Film.
