Behind the Panels will continue its successful run of almost 50 shows to date in 2013, returning to a weekly format in March. Hosted by Richard Gray and David McVay, creators of The Reel Bits and Geek Actually, it has been described as “Oprah’s Book Club for geeks”. Each show, David and Richard dissect a classic, new or just plain obscure graphic novel or comic book series in a spoilers and all discussion. Coupled with interviews with comic book creators, the latest news and the fan-favourite Vintage Clip of the Week, if you aren’t already reading comics, you will be by the end of this show.

Last week, [Overnights] had a text message from Paperchucker, listening on the Gold Coast. He said his daughter was after scary movies, but nothing she had seen was actually frightening her. We thought we should get Paperchucker and his daughter some good suggestions, so we called in our film man, Richard Gray and took calls on the films that truly terrified you.

From the earliest days of cinema through to more modern macabre, we journey through people’s favourite scares and some of our own.

Once again we need to thank Rod and Dan for the invite on the show, it’s always a blast. We’ve been appearing on ABC Overnights regularly, and you can find most of our previous appearances here. You can listen to our other weekly podcasts including Film Actually News, review show Film Actually and our comic book show Behind the Panels.

PODCAST: This week, we look at The Bourne Legacy, and list Five Movie We Just Didn’t Need.

This week we have a change of plan. Due to problems finding screenings of Cosmopolis, we have moved that film to a later date and review The Bourne Legacy instead, we look at What We’ve Been Watching, read some feedback and deliver a brand new Lists of Five – Five Movie We Just Didn’t Need. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.

Hosts: David McVay, Josh Philpott & Richard Gray

The news section is now officially it’s own show called Film Actually News. Look for it on the feed because it is loud, fast and under thirty minutes… or your money back.

If you are an iTunes user, please leave a review. Your comments help us improve the show.

This show carries an explicit tag due to infrequent coarse language.

Listen or download it here or subscribe to it on iTunes

What We’ve Been Watching

A collection of other things we’ve been watching this week.

Feature Film Review

‘The Bourne Legacy’ directed by Tony Gilroy and written by Tony Gilroy and Dan Gilroy inspired by the novels by Robert Ludlum. It stars Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Donna Murphy and Stacy Keach.

An expansion of the universe from Robert Ludlum’s novels, centered on a new hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films. Source: IMDB

Spoiler Zone: 00:36:43 – 00:44:15 – Skip this section if you don’t want to hear spoilers

Watch the trailer here: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/universal/thebournelegacy/

Lists of Five

This week our Lists of Five: Five Movie We Just Didn’t Need. I think the topic speaks for itself.
Just a reminder, because we never like to just make things easy on ourselves, our lists are not necessarily top five lists, they are more or a less a list of film recommendations within the theme of the list.
