Walt Disney Studios have revealed the first photo of Angelina Jolie as the title character in Maleficent, and she is everything we imagined she would be. We also image Jolie brought her own wardrobe.
Based on Disney’s 1959 animated version of Sleeping Beauty (also pictured below), the film aims to tell the previously untold story of the wicked villain who cursed the baby Aurora. The film will also star Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. Written by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast), the film will be the directorial debut of Oscar-winning production designer Robert Stromberg.
Maleficent is due for a 13 March 2014 release in Australia and 14 March 2014 release in the US from Disney.
