‘Star Trek 4’ announced by Paramount, Chris Hemsworth returning

Star Trek 4 - Chris Hemsworth

Paramount has announced that STAR TREK 4 will be released by the studio. The news comes ahead of this week’s release of third entry Star Trek Beyond. The movie will star both Chris Pine and…Chris Hemsworth.

Regular viewers will know that Hemsworth played George Kirk, the father of Pine’s Captain James T. Kirk, in the opening moments of the first film in the rebooted series. His return will either signal more flashbacks, or wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. The studio has indicated that they will cross paths, with Kirk encountering “a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born.”

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will pen the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce once again through Bad Robot Productions. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance will executive produce. So expect another twenty minutes of logos at the start of the film.
