Sydney Film Music Festival announces inaugural program

Star Trek Live

The Sydney film festival scene just got another addition. MJR Presents has announced the first annual Sydney Film Music Festival, kicking off on October 13 at the ICC Sydney Theatre. The three-night event will treat audiences to  a selection of cinematic masterpieces, with their iconic scores performed by a live symphonic orchestra.

On Friday 13 October, the festival celebrates the 50 years of Star Trek  with The Ultimate Voyage, bringing together music and vision from the franchise’s extensive film and TV history, including pieces from Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and more.

Saturday October 14 brings an iconic Hans Zimmer film score to life as Gladiator takes audiences to new heights of emotion played as a full orchestral experience. Sunday 15 October provides a feast for families with Dreamworks Animation In Concert playing iconic movie moments from hit films including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and many more.

Given how rare it is to see classics on the big screen in Sydney some of the time, this is a unique opportunity to discover or even revisit some of these films with an enhanced audio experience. The full details, including how to get tickets, are below.
