‘Star Trek: Discovery’ unleashes Comic-Con trailer for Netflix

Star Trek: Discovery

The excitement around STAR TREK: DISCOVERY comes from its absence on our television screens for over 12 years. Netflix has released the trailer from San Diego Comic-Con, ahead of the 25 September debut on the streaming network internationally.

“Something is found lurking at the edge of Federation space, and Starfleet will never be the same.” That something appears to be a redesigned version of the Klingons, and the Federation is poised to go into war with them.

Once again, the trailer showcases an excellent set of special effects and a massive scope for the series. Some have complained that this is less like the television Trek we are used to, and more like the high-concept action of the J.J. Abrams films. This may be the case, but it doesn’t make it any less exciting.

The 15-episode season will be released in two chapters. The first eight episodes will run from Monday 25 September through Monday 6 November. The season will then resume with the second chapter in January 2018. It screens on CBS All Access in the US and on Netflix in Australia and around the world.
